Spiritual Cry
Justin McDermott
A conversation with the spirit through cold, rain and the hope of return.

Talking to my spirit last night,
Ignoring the cold and rain,
Please, I need you now,
More than ever before!
The light shone early,
Exposing you to the bitterness
Not knowing my importance
I fell for the sweet caress
You were hunted, haunted
And stripped to be flaunted
Love they forgot to feed it
Burnt in unforgiving sorrow
For those who killed my spirit
Plagued now for sure
Questions of whether to set the score
And echoing back through time
For my spirit to live in me once more
The light now shines bright in me
Even though for so long I turned away
Scarred by life's cross I see
Well, I'd injure it all again
If I could feel my spirit once more within me
